Both bearings are ‘ACB’, meaning ‘Angular Contact Bearings’. The head-tube seat angle is 45º.
The headset drops into a tapered seat in the head tube and is tensioned using a headset tensioner within the fork steerer. Tensioning the headset centres it on the taper and prevents any play. The larger lower bearing allows a tapered steerer and larger crown. This gives sharper response and helps reduce flex under braking.
FORK RECOMMENDATION: ‘CC‘, Unidirectional [UD] carbon fork with post mount, mudguard eyelets and hose clip. Included.
KINESIS 7005 DOUBLE BUTTED: Our 7005 alloy tubing is 5-10% stronger than 6061 tube, by most measures. Double-butted tubes are specially drawn so that they are thicker at the ends of the tubes, where they are welded and stresses are highest, and thinner in the middle to minimize weight.
aStay: Unique to our CX frames, an oversize driveside chainstay allows us to keep the back end light and stiff.
CCDisc: The Kinesis 5T disc is perfect for Cyclocross, Urban or touring frames with a tapered 1.5” steerer and disc mounts. An alloy steerer and crown mate with carbon blades and forged alloy dropout and disc-mount. The dropouts are eyeletted and the crown is drilled making it an ideal fork for mudguard fitment.
Ergo Top Tube: The 'Ergo’ top tube makes it more comfortable for carrying over longer distances. The tube is also wider where it meets the seat tube, helping to resist twisting forces along the front triangle. The Kinesis 5T disc is a development of the well-loved 5T. The highly adaptable frame is as at home hacking along to work or powering through the mud at your local Cyclo Cross race. The frame 7005 double butted tubed frame features an easily replaceable no hassle drop in headset, standard bottom bracket shell and 27.2 post for more comfort. The fresh graphics and increase in sizes take cues from the original model, whilst developments incorporate a eyeletted CC Disc Carbon fork and will take up to a 40mm tyre including mudguards. Combining the new inboard disk mounts the frame leaves room for mounting ‘guards and rack fitting. The flattened top tube profiling for was added for increased shouldering comfort.
