The R2 is a modern-day road bike ideally suited to those looking for good pace in their ride with the added prospect of something a little more adventurous if desired.

The R2 is built around the same proven frame and fork as our highly acclaimed, group test-winning R1 bike which Cycling Plus magazine proclaimed had "Understated class and excellent ride quality" and BikeRadar.com said had “instant zing when pressing the pedals". Customer feedback led us to tweak the recipe to cater to even more riders and R2 features a Shimano 2x10 drivetrain, providing a plentiful gear range. No matter whether you like to tackle big climbs, bomb fast descents, or get your head down on flat roads, then the R2 will get you there with ease.

Our experience spans over two decades of aluminium frame design. Drawing on this we created the R2 with a lightweight double-butted 6061 Alloy tube blend that delivers a light and responsive ride feel. Good alloy frames have rightly earned their place with a ride quality that can easily trump that of cheap carbon frames. Our impeccable weld quality and attention to detail come as standard. Internal down tube cable routing keeps the R2 looking clean and the servicing practical. Rack and guard mounts open up all seasons riding, along with ample clearance for bigger tyres with full guards.

Up front, our custom full UD carbon fork keeps weight low and takes out road buzz whilst feeling direct and accurate at all times. Jumping onboard is easy with our Kinesis Rider Fit Geometry which has been developed for comfortable all-day rides. A simple-to-understand choice of four sizes ensures the perfect bike-fit for almost all rider sizes.

Additional Info

If ordered online, the R2 bike will be delivered 95% built.

• The rotor will need fitting to front wheel (rotor is boxed between the front wheel and frame, and the lockring is in the spares/manuals box).

• The front wheel needs fitting.

• You’ll need to align the front brake.

• Handlebars need fitting to the stem (the stem comes fitted with a positive rise, and all 3x10mm spacers under the stem).

• Seatpost needs fitting (saddle attached to post).

• The pedal washers are tied to the crank arms.

• The Kinesis R2 bike has been checked prior to packing, however before your first ride the bike must have a PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) by an authorised Kinesis Dealer.

Also the R2 bike comes with some spares and manuals in a separate box, in the bike box:

• Front rotor lockring (as mentioned above).

• Wheel reflectors.

• Frame reflectors.

• Quick Release axle manuals.

• SRAM rotor manual.

Testimonials

A lot of aluminium models at this price are race bike wannabes, the R2 just isn't like that. It's quick, sure, but it's also designed to be functional and easy to live with, and you'll really appreciate that in the long term. The ability to take wider tyres for grip and comfort, mudguards for winter riding, and a rack for lugging stuff about, these are all real-world benefits for a whole load of riders.

I was impressed with the R2…well finished and the combination of its dynamic frame, swift yet stable handling adds up to a very versatile bike.

It would make a great commuter/weekend warrior, a machine with sporty handling that’s just as capable of taking you on tour as it is doubling up as an exciting winter trainer.

Superb on-road manners; handling; decent value…. good looking, versatile and smooth-riding bike at a great price
